Film student drops studies due to lack of finance

HIGHLANDS NORTH – Moema needs about R40 000 to complete his Film and TV productions course.

A house owner and employer is requesting the public to help raise funds and pay for her domestic worker’s son’s tuitions after his sponsor pulled out at the last minutes.

Highlands North resident Lauren Kier has launched an online fundraising campaign to help raise funds for Dikapolo Moema, a second-year film student.

According to her, Moema’s college fees cost about R59 000 and he desperately needs funds to continue with his studies. She said that currently, they have managed to raise about R12 000 but they still need about R40 000.

“The registration is closing on 25 August and we have not raised as much as we need and thus we call on the public to assist and make some financial donations,” said Kier.

“He has only one more year to complete his film and TV productions course at Oakfields College. He had a sponsor who let him down, so he could not continue this year! It is such a pity as he came second in the class in 2017 and received a gold certificate and a trophy at graduation for the first year.”

Kier added that Moema is conscientious, quiet, talented and diligent and really wants to complete his course. The subjects he did last year were editing, script writing, camera studies, audio post, production, sound for film and film theory.

According to Kier, Oakfields College is a private college and the fees are expensive. “Any donations to assist Joseph in completing his course would be very much appreciated.”

All donations can be deposited into https://www.backabuddy.co.za/charity/profile/joseph-studies according to Kier.
