Thembalami show off a new look

LOMBARDY EAST – The Thembalami Care Centre showed off their new premises by hosting a special high tea.

The Thembalami Care Centre invited residents from three other Rand Aids villages to show some of the changes made to their premises.

The care centre hosted a special high tea on 3 August to display some of the recent renovations and additions that were made to their dining area and garden. The dining area received a makeover from the Sandton-based Infinitude Designs earlier this year, while the garden was given life with new fruit trees and seedlings that were planted in July and August.

The care centre invited residents from Tarentaal, Elphin Lodge, Thornhill Manor and Inyoni Creek for tea and the opportunity to see the changes to the premises.

Resident at the centre Winifred Algar said, “A pleasant environment has been created, both inside and out, for those who find themselves no longer able to attend to their daily needs. Management has an open-door policy and I have found the Thembalami team to be extremely approachable and obliging. They will go the extra mile to accommodate a request or attend to a problem.”

The high tea was organised by fourth-year social work student Ellen Betridge, with the assistance of the Thembalami residents committee, as part of her community work project.

Manager of Thembalami Care Centre Elize Raath said, “The feedback was positive. Our visitors could not believe the transformation.”
