BET shines light on Africa through comedy
JOBURG – A weekly comedy series offers humorous commentary on misconceived African clichés.
Launched on 27 July, This Is Africa (TIA) is a weekly comedy series that offers funny commentary on misconceived African clichés.
The series is hosted by a wide panel of comedians, celebrities, models and socialites such as the Microwave Boys, Mojak Lehoko, Farieda Metsileng and Nicole Nyaba
During each and every episode the panellists re-define what it is to be African and what makes Africa such a unique continent. Each episode features a discussion of three topics that touch on some of the themes.
Aired on the BET channel every Friday evening, TIA focuses on economics, religion, politics, culture, love and entertainment in its interrogation of Africanism.
It is comprised of six topical themes that affect every African – whether controversial, embarrassing, or funny – which ultimately make a person identify with being an African.
