Hennessy, a brand synonymous with success, excellence and craftsmanship lit up the Joburg skyline during an exclusive night that saw one of Joburg’s oldest buildings, the Cosmopolitan, undergo a complete facelift as colonial settler Jan van Riebeeck’s image on the wall was replaced by a mural celebrating the legendary singer, humanitarian and activist Yvonne Chaka Chaka.
The mural was part of Portuguese street artist Alexandre ‘Vhils’ Farto and Hennessy’s #MakeTheInvisibleVisible collaboration which also included new-look limited edition bottles exclusively designed by Vhils.
“I’m honored and very glad that I was able to do the wall,” Vhils said.
Emceeing the event was Zulu Mkhathini who said Hennessy and Vhils created something amazing and a masterpiece that immortalised a South African icon.
Yvonne Chaka Chaka said she doesn’t take the love and support she gets for granted and thanked Vhils for making the invisible visible.
“It is an amazing project and I’m grateful and humbled,” said Yvonne Chaka Chaka
