The SA Book Fair set to return with stellar line-up

JOBURG – SA Book Fair presents event programme packed with contentious topics facing South Africa.

Running from 7 to 9 September in Newtown, this year’s South African Book Fair is set to present a diverse programme including topics and activities for everyone.

The three-day event boasts a vault of books that see industry experts showcase books that entertain, educate and empower and keep in line with the fair’s #OurStories theme.

“#OurStories is about the rich stories Africans have to tell – you don’t need a book, you can tell a story – we’re encouraging people to tell stories,” said Elitha van Der Sandt, CEO of the South African Book Development Council.

The fair’s literary programme runs from Saturday to Sunday with an exciting line-up – from panel discussions with leading movers and shakers to a Philosophy Café, facilitated by prominent thought leaders, and sessions dealing with some of the most pressing social, economic and political issues facing South Africa today.

Some highlights on offer include the #OurStories Storytelling Festival where stories relaying the African spirit will be told. There will also be African Superheroes which sees young authors such as Loyiso Mkhize, Bontle Senne, Clyde Beech and Benoit Knox take the audience into the world of graphic novels and comics; and Step into My Womanhood which will give diverse female authors a platform to discuss their expression of womanhood.
