Two knife-wielding suspects arrested for robbery of 32-year-old man

JOHANNESBURG – Two suspects have been arrested by Joburg Central Police for armed robbery.

 

Two suspect were arrested for armed robbery in central Johannesburg.

The two suspects, aged 20 and 26, robbed a 32-year-old man on the corner of Jeppe and Simmonds streets on 19 July at 6.30pm. Spokesperson for the Johannesburg Central Police Station Captain Xoli Mbele said, “The victim was walking down the street when he was confronted by two suspects who threatened him with knives. They took his cell phone and R160 before they fled the scene.”

Mbele added that the victim saw the police on the corner of Bree and Sauer streets and alerted them to the incident. The police apprehended the suspects and found the two knives and money but no cell phone.

An investigation is currently underway and the suspects will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.
