Pridwin attends Mayoral Legacy Concert

MELROSE – Pridwin Preparatory School wowed the crowd with their marimba skills at the Mayoral Legacy Concert.

Pridwin Preparatory School in Melrose was invited to perform at the Mayoral Legacy Concert on 8 July.

The much-anticipated musical concert was hosted at the Sun Arena in Pretoria as part of the World Choir Games, which is aimed at unifying people and nations connected by song in a fair competition.

The boys of the Pridwin marimba band performed for 45 minutes while the audience members arrived and also performed as an ensemble during the concert.

Choirs from countries across Africa such as Kenya, Ghana, Namibia and Mozambique joined Tshwane choirs at the concert. Some of the teams from Africa performed as a collective choir with different melodic voices.

Instead of buying entrance tickets, the audience members were asked to rather donate new pairs of shoes, packed toiletry bags or blankets in a quest to help those in need.

Pridwin marimba band boys said they felt privileged to have participated in this prestigious event and they hope to receive other invitations to perform in areas outside of Johannesburg.
