Man arrested for house robbery and stolen property in Greenside

GREENSIDE – A man committed two crimes on the same day and was arrested by Parkview police.

A man was spotted carrying a bag and was recently apprehended in Barry Hertzog Avenue in Greenside by a private security company, while guards were patrolling the area.

Police officers from the Parkview Police Station were contacted and when the police arrived on the scene, they searched the suspect and found him with a luxurious cell phone, laptop, USB, charger, hard drive and headphones.

Sergeant Frederick Maseko and Constable Peter Rakumaku arrested the suspect for possession of the suspected stolen property. Further investigation revealed that the suspect was linked to a house robbery that occurred on Barry Hertzog Avenue earlier the same day.

The suspect appeared at Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court to answer to charges of house robbery and possession of the suspected stolen property.

Parkview Police Station commander, Colonel Theledi Gopane would like to thank the private security company and the police in fighting crime around the Parkview precinct.

The spokesperson, Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said, “We as the Parkview Police Station always ensure that the community is safe through crime prevention. The officers from the security company also did the right thing by tipping off police officers.”
