Authors, actors and life coaches shed light on the power of words

JOBURG – The South African Book Fair and Absa Experience spark conversations on the power of words.

The South African Book Fair (SABF), in partnership with the Absa Experience held a panel discussion on the importance and power of words.

The knowledgeable panel included renowned authors Dudu Busani-Dube and Linda Mabusela, actor Muzi Mthabela and life coach Tabea Nong who spoke on the need for young South Africans to harness the power of words in order to empower themselves personally and professionally.

Mthabela said there was nothing that we say that doesn’t have an effect, he added that the universe and God hear everything we say and it gets thrown back at us.

“Words have impacts and words have effects,” Mthabela said.

Nong stressed the power of words in self-image and improvement and advise the youth to learn to speak life.

“What we say reveals who we are, it reveals what’s in our hearts,” added Mthabela.

Speaking on her involvement in this year’s edition of the SABF, Busani-Dube said she’ll be involved in a number of discussions that cover self-publishing, fiction and film adaptations.  The author said that she’s currently working on the last book of her famous Hlomu series and that her stories are about people, life and experiences and portray the trials and tribulations that people go through.

“Appreciate being alive and the gift of waking up,” Busani-Dube said.
