Chicken wings divide the nation

JOBURG – The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) rules in KFC's favour.

South Africans have been engaging in robust and fruitful debates online – conversations that separate patriots from the rest, the men from the boys, and women from girls.

The important conversations revolve around a serious question: Who makes the best chicken wings?

It seems that KFC has taken a knock as the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled that their ‘four hot Zinger Wings’ are actually just two wings. Business Insider reported that the ruling follows a complaint by a consumer who alleged that KFC misleads the masses with the description of their Zinger Wings. The consumer said KFC should, in fact, be advertising two Zinger Wings.

Unfortunately, the ASA ruled in favour of KFC and said their adverts clearly show it is selling half wings – with a ‘winglet’ description immediately below the words ‘four hot Zinger Wings’.

Nonetheless, the ruling has spurred a debate about chicken wings online, a debate only meant for chicken wing connoisseurs:
