Foreign national nabbed for drug dealing and bribery

JOHANNESBURG – A foreign national was arrested in Johannesburg CBD for drug dealing, while his brother was arrested for attempting to bribe the police.

 

Johannesburg Central Police arrested a 30-year-old foreign national for drug dealing on 22 June in Johannesburg CBD.

Spokesperson for the Johannesburg Central Police Captain Xoli Mbele said that the police arrested the suspect on the corner of Bree and Nugget Street at 3pm with the help of the Department of Community Safety.

He added that the police received a tip-off regarding the suspect. Upon further investigation, they found several balls of illegal drugs in a plastic bag to the value of approximately R145 000. He was arrested and charged with drug dealing.

The older brother of the suspect was also arrested after attempting to bribe the police officers with R3 000.

An investigation is underway and they both appeared in Johannesburg Magistrates Court on 25 June to face their respective charges. This is still a developing story and a follow-up regarding the outcome of their appearance will follow.
