After 25 years in Parkview, Picture Workshop says goodbye

PARKVIEW – Goodbye everyone, says The Picture Workshop Parkhurst store owner.

It’s a sad day for Parkview residents as The Picture Workshop closes its doors after 25 years.

Peter Roberts opened his store 25 years ago, but now he has to say farewell to the Parkview community.

The picture framing store has seen thousands of priceless and timeless pictures and artworks come through its doors. It is a well-known and well-loved piece of Parkview shop history.

Roberts fell seriously ill in February when he was rushed to hospital after collapsing in his store. He was diagnosed with cancer which has had negative ripple effects on his kidneys.

As a result, Roberts has no choice but to have kidney dialysis treatment three times a week. This has proved too much for the long-time owner to balance with running the store.

The lessor has ended the contract as of July to make way for another store.

“A sincere thank you to all who gave considerable support in the recent months when I was unable to run my framing business due to serious illness. Your kindness will never be forgotten,” said Roberts.

The Picture Workshop’s doors will close at 1pm on Saturday 30 June. All prior work and any jobs received on the day will be completed. Any remaining art pieces and materials are on auction – interested buyers are free to make the store an offer.
