Jeppe and Alex nightclubs busted

JOHANNESBURG – The Metro police paid a visit to 26 nightclubs as part of Operation Nightlife.

 

Metro police inspected 26 nightclubs in Alexandra and Jeppestown on 10 and 11 June as part of Operation Nightlife.

Spokesperson for the Johannesburg Metro Police Department, chief superintendent Wayne Minnaar said, “Operation Nightlife involves the ongoing inspection of nightclubs in Johannesburg to make sure they are compliant with emergency safety by-laws and the Liquor Act.

“A metro police K9 sniffer dog discovered dagga at one the clubs and 60 cases of beer had to be confiscated from two clubs for not complying with the regulation.”

He added that a club owner from Alexandra had to pay a fine of R5 000 for not complying with the Liquor Act, and six clubs were given fines between R500 and R1 500 for not complying with emergency safety by-laws.
