New crime drama, The Detail, launches on Universal TV South Africa

JOBURG – All-female crime drama launches on Universal TV.

Universal TV, NBCUniversal International Networks’ general entertainment brand, has acquired exclusive television rights to new crime drama The Detail, from Entertainment One (eOne), in Africa.

The show premiered on 5 June at 8pm exclusively on Universal TV (DStv 117) and is a groundbreaking, female-driven crime drama chronicling the professional and personal lives of three various ranking homicide detectives who work within the metropolitan police service.

The all-female lead 10-episode series stars Angela Griffin and Shenae Grimes-Beech as detectives Stevie Hall and Jack Cooper who balance solving murders with the demands of their messy personal lives under the watchful eye of Wendy Crewson’s character  – Fiona Currie, the homicide unit’s formidable boss who works tirelessly to secure justice.

“Working on The Detail was amazing because we have women leading the way in front and behind the camera,” said veteran Canadian actress, Wendy Crewson.

Lee Raftery, MD UK and Emerging Markets and chief marketing and content officer NBCUniversal International said he was excited for the audience to get know the three strong, female lead detectives as they navigate the demands of their jobs and daily lives.

Speaking about her character in The Detail, Crewson said it was interesting to play a character that was unapologetically in charge.

“On a female-led set like The Detail, your voice is heard,” Crewson said.
