VIDEO: 100 years of Madiba celebration in Houghton

HOUGHTON – The life of the late and former president, Nelson Mandela was told by those close to him at Topco Media's pre-launch.

South Africa will be honouring Mandela Day, 18 July. The former and late president would have turned 100 this year.

To keep his spirit alive, Topco Media hosted a pre-launch on 28 June at the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Houghton to discuss the upcoming publication, titled 100: The Mandela Years.

Editor of the publication from Topco Media, Ryland Fisher said they had the first publication 10 years ago before Mandela passed away.

“The size of the publication will be bigger in size than the last one. We will produce a much better quality book just in terms of look and feel, as well as the content. We are bringing bigger and better this time,” he said.

Topco Media CEO Ralf Fletcher said they want the book to be more about Madiba’s values and principles.

“I think the previous book was more about timelines as we were tracking each decade and what was happening in his life and I think a lot of that has been documented enough now. We want to highlight how he related with people as a father and as a leader,” explained Fletcher.

It has been endorsed by the Nelson Mandela Museum and will be available in October this year. Read the full story in Rosebank Killarney Gazette, week ending 6 July.
