YEOVILLE – Three suspects arrested after bar shooting leaves one in ICU.

Three suspects were arrested and a victim has been left in the ICU following a shooting after a heated argument in a bar in Yeoville on 29 May.

Spokesperson for Yeoville Police Station, Captain Sifiso Mabizela said that at 2pm at a bar on the corner of Cavendish Road and Hunter Street, an argument broke out between two patrons leading to one slapping the other.

The patron who had been slapped left the bar and made his way to his car, where he allegedly grabbed a pistol. Mabizela added, “He then made his way back to the bar and is said to have shot the victim in the upper body before leaving.”

The police and emergency services were called to the scene where the victim was treated and taken to the nearest hospital. Mabizela said the victim is in intensive care.

Following the shooting, patrolling officers traced the vehicle and arrested the three occupants. All three were charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, while the suspect allegedly involved in the shooting, was charged with attempted murder.

The three suspects are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
