The teachers and girls at St Mary’s School Waverly took part in Slipper Day, a Wimpy initiative that raises money for Reach for a Dream.
The initiative called on participants to buy R10 wristbands at their nearest Wimpy which allows them to wear slippers to school or work.

Reach for a Dream assits children who suffer from terminal illnesses.
The initiative raised R1.4 million from the sale of the bracelets last year, with Wimpy also giving away 33 276 free cups of coffee to participants.
Head of pastoral care at the school, Lynn Northmore said, “Slipper Day went very well at St Mary’s School, Waverley. Not only did the girls enjoy wearing their slippers but they were pleased that there was a purpose to their comfort.”
Northmore said the day was important for their children to remember that beyond the school grounds there are others who are poor, sick and without access to resources. “Dreams are an important part of keeping us positive. Having a future focus is often what allows us to journey through difficult times.
“It is a privilege through such a small gesture to help someone’s dream come true.”
