Sandringham police have been accused of dragging their feet with investigating a case of housebreaking and theft, allegedly involving a domestic worker, that took place at 1st Road, Lyndhurst on 21 April.

The victim and property owner, Simon Moripe, told North Eastern Tribune that his house was broken into and his valuables, including his car, were stolen. Moripe then opened a case of housebreaking and theft at Sandringham Police Station but since then the investigating officer has kept mum regarding details of the case.
He said even though the car was recovered a few days later at the Alexandra Police Station, he is still concerned with what the police have had to say about the case, as the suspect has allegedly been identified.
“The car was recovered after the suspects drove over a person and hit a wall and then dumped the car on the scene in Alexandra. The tracker shows that the car made a stop at my domestic worker’s partner’s house in Alexandra which proves that the domestic worker had everything to do with this crime because she knew that I was away on that day,” alleged Moripe.
He claimed he informed the investigating officer of this and said he is amazed by the fact that the domestic worker has not been brought in for questioning and now he wants answers.
According to Moripe, other stolen items include a TV and a computer which have not yet been recovered.
Lieutenant Colonel Nkosana Mbhele of Sandringham Police Station said that he will be following up on the matter. “I have spoken to the victim and he has given me the case number and I will consult with the investigating officer to find out more about this case,” said Mbhele.
