YEOVILLE – Police arrest a murder suspect after the community's help.

Yeoville police, along with the Metro police, arrested a suspect wanted for murder, four days after the incident.

Spokesperson for Yeoville Police Station, Captain Sifiso Mabizela said the suspect was arrested on the corner of Plein and Klein streets in the Joburg CBD on 25 April. He said the arrest was made after a group of people identified the suspect.

The murder was committed at a private home on the corner of Yeoville and Bedford streets on the 21 April. Captain Mabizela said the accused allegedly stabbed the victim while drinking alcohol following an argument over R20. He claimed the argument was about a marijuana deal between the victim and suspect.

He said the accused made his first appearance on 30 May and is currently waiting for the outcome of his bail application. He will make his next appearance on 14 May.

Mabizela commended the local community and the witnesses for working with the police. He said, “Yeoville police commend the community’s efforts – together we make our streets safer and cleaner.”
