Johannesburg East cluster arrests 94 suspects

JOHANNESBURG – The suspects were arrested during police patrols.

 

The Johannesburg East cluster police have arrested 94 suspects for committing various offences.

This according to cluster spokesperson, Captain Tintswalo Sibeko who said the suspects were arrested during police patrols.

The police stations comprise Parkview, Jeppe, Cleveland, Rosebank, Hillbrow, Yeoville and Norwood.

“Our officers were patrolling their precincts when they made the arrests for different crimes,” said Sibeko.

The arrests are as follows:

  • 1 for rape
  • 1 for robbery and common assault
  • 1 for attempted murder
  • 1 for contravention of Liquor Act
  • 1 for possession of suspected drugs
  • 1 for possession of suspected stolen property
  • 1 for fraud
  • 1 for malicious damage to property
  • 1 for discharging of a firearm in a municipal area
  • 1 for murder
  • 2 for theft out of a motor vehicle
  • 2 for common assault and resisting arrest
  • 2 for reckless and negligent driving
  • 3 on warrants of arrest
  • 4 for common assault in domestic violence cases
  • 4 for armed robbery
  • 5 for possession of dagga
  • 5 for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles
  • 5 for possession of unlicensed firearms
  • 8 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH)
  • 11 for shoplifting
  • 38 for drunk and driving.

“All the suspects have appeared in the Hillbrow and Johannesburg magistrates’ courts. Some have made bail while others remain in police custody,” said Sibeko.
