Illovo residents take up their tools for A Re Sebetseng

ILLOVO - Residents brought along their tools and their gardening skills for the A Re Sebetseng clean-up

Illovo residents had their work cut out for them while they worked on a traffic island which needed a lot of grass-cutting and weeding.

The ward councillor, Martin Williams, decided to bring in specialised gardeners who volunteered their help. They arrived with hoes and rakes and began tilling away at the overgrown weeds.

“Martin decided to bring in these experienced resident gardeners to come and do the job because it required a lot more expertise than the regular gardener,” said Simon Lebelo, who oversees the Alex-Sandton Constituency.

Social media administrator, Simone Puterman was also present and helped with collecting the accumulated rubble and placing it into the Pikitup bags. She also directed attention to the Facebook pages that residents can visit for awareness of such activities. The ‘I Love Illovo’ as well as ‘Illovo Triangle Residents’ interest group are such sites.

As the residents carried on tilling and hoeing, the urban inspector, Linda Ngcobo arrived. He coordinates many activities such as Integrated Visible Service Delivery, regular meetings and walkabouts.

The A Re Sebetseng project in Illovo was successfully carried out and cooperation between residents was good.
