Suspect linked to Honey hi-jacking arrested in Alexandra

ALEXANDRA – The Johannesburg Flying Squad arrested a suspect driving a vehicle linked to a hijacking in Honeydew.

A 42-year-old suspect was arrested by the Johannesburg Flying Squad on 17 April after it was discovered he was driving a stolen car.

Spokesperson for the Johannesburg Flying Squad, Sergeant Desmond Subramoney said, “The police were alerted about a suspicious white VW Polo which was parked on London Road in Alexandra. Johannesburg flying squad police officers followed up with the information received and spotted the suspicious white Polo.”

He added that the Polo was reported as hijacked by Honeydew police.

The police officers observed the vehicle and spotted the suspect entering the car and driving off. Sergeant Subramoney added, “The officers quickly responded and pounced on the vehicle and arrested one suspect and recovered the VW Polo.”

The police officers confiscated the vehicle and arrested the suspect for possession of a stolen motor vehicle. The suspect is expected to appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’Court.
