Two security guards held for murder

JOHANNESBURG – The suspects are yet to appear in court.

 

Two residential building security guards were arrested on 10 April by the police and are facing murder charges.

The incident happened on the corner of Bree and Polly streets in the Johannesburg CBD in the afternoon.

The two security guards, believed to be Zimbabwean nationals, had allegedly argued with a visitor resulting in a fight.

“The suspects allegedly assaulted and stabbed a 31-year-old male in the streets mentioned above on 9 April,” said police spokesperson, Captain Xoli Mbele.

“The victim was with his girlfriend. He wanted to enter the premises of the flat and an argument erupted. The suspects assaulted him before one of them stabbed him once in the upper body.”

Paramedics certified him dead on the scene, added Mbele.

An investigation is underway and suspects will soon appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.
