Joburg Theatre honours Winnie Madikizela-Mandela

JOBURG – South African musician celebrate the life of fallen stalwart.

The Department of Arts and Culture in partnership with the Joburg Theatre honoured fallen stalwart, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela on 12 April.

The memorial saw a plethora of South African musicians – both young and old –  come together to celebrate the life and legacy the icon. The audience at Madikizela-Mandela’s memorial were treated to performances by  The Soil, Judith Sephuma, Tsepo Tshola, Lira and Cassper Nyovest amongst many others.

Actresses, Nomzamo Mbatha and Thuso Mbedu paid homage to Madikizela-Mandela with theatrical performances which saw Mbatha give riveting visual and theatrical expressions of Mama Winnie while Mbedu gave an outstanding portrayal of a young Zenani Mandela.

Nonhlanhla Sifumba, MMC for community development,  said it was an honour to host the tribute to Madikizela-Mandela.
