IN TWEETS: Taxify identifies hotspots for its riders and drivers

Following the brutal murder of 21-year-old Taxify driver Siyabonga Ngcobo, Taxify has partnered with the security app Namola in an attempt to keep its drivers and riders safe.

Speaking at the Taxify Safety Summit, Taxify country manager, Gareth Taylor, identified several hotspots in Soweto, Pretoria and Yeoville, urging drivers and riders to avoid the areas. Werner Koekemoer, a security specialist, also urged customers to report any hotspots they may identify.

According to Taylor, some of the issues facing drivers included cash payments in unsafe areas, the issuing of panic buttons, authenticating riders and payment methods.

Peter Matthaei, the CEO of Namola said the app promised speedy assistance in times of emergency.
