Highlands North resident in top 100 semi-finalists for Mrs South Africa

HIGHLANDS NORTH – Local resident Rakhee Seevnarayan has been selected into the top 100 semi-finalists of the Timmy Taylor Mrs South Africa competition.

 

Highlands North resident Rakhee Seevnarayan has been selected as a top 100 semi-finalist in the Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa.

Her nomination into the top 100 was recently announced. She joined other married women from all over South Africa for the first National Casting and Empowerment Workshop held at Emperors Palace, to help them prepare for the journey ahead, which started on 2 March.

Seevnarayan works as beauty salon owner, as well as a consultant in the pension fund industry. She said, “I have Bachelor’s of Commerce in Financial Management and I am currently a second-year law student. I own my own beauty salon called Elle Reve,”

Describing the competition she said, “The competition is more of a women-empowerment initiative rather than a pageant. It has been amazing, walking out of the workshops and you have a refreshed ideas of yourself.

“As a wife and mother, you get caught up in the mundane activities of life and you don’t get to take care of yourself. This is to help find myself and how to find out who I was and what I was capable of.”

Seevnarayan said she has been inspired by the other contestants in the workshops during the competition attended by women from all walks of life.

Only 25 lucky women will be selected to continue the journey, as finalists, for Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa and they will be announced at the Annual Charity Ball on 29 June at Centre Court, Emperors Palace.

All proceeds from this event will go to the pageant’s official Charity, Women4Women South Africa.

The contestant with the highest number of votes will be an automatic entry to the top 25.
