Local mom vies for Mrs South Africa crown

SAVOY – The programme celebrates marriage and the essence of being a real woman.

Jaysh Sunker, a married mom from Savoy Estate, a Johannesburg north-east suburb, has been announced as a Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa Top 100 Semi-finalist for 2018.

Mrs South Africa is the number one pageant and female empowerment programme for married women in South Africa and is not a typical beauty pageant in the traditional sense of the word. It offers South African women who have real-life careers, families and hobbies a platform to make a difference, and Sunker was announced out of a record number of entries received by the organisers.

Her journey began as a Top 100 semi-finalist on 2 March, where she was invited, along with the other beautiful, sophisticated and married women from all over South Africa.

The main sponsor, Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa is a journey that has gained the reputation of a women-empowerment programme and prides itself on producing the very best in real, relatable and modern South African women. It celebrates marriage and the essence of being a real woman.

The programme was created for married women who would ordinarily not have such a platform to compete and be ambassadors for South Africa on a global scale. The opportunities and platform that have been created are significant in every way and truly create a ripple effect across our beautiful country.

Through the journey of Mrs South Africa, women find themselves again and learn that they are never too old to follow their dreams and become voices of change, said Sunker. “This empowerment programme has helped me achieve a new self-confidence as well as gain personal growth, which will enable me to use this platform to make a difference in my community.”
