Norwood police are searching for four suspects driving a white Isuzu bakkie following an armed robbery at the Norwood Mall.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was followed from his place of residence by the four armed robbers.

Tshivhase said the victim told the police that driving from his home in Houghton he went to the nearby petrol station before going to the Norwood Mall.

At the mall, he said the victim then went to a pharmacy store and drove around to Builders Warehouse where he was robbed. “The victim was just parking his vehicle when he noticed a bakkie parking behind his car and two suspects jumped out and approached him carrying firearms.

“Without injuring him or hijacking his car, they only robbed the victim of a Rolex watch worth R554 000 and took off.”

Police are investigating a case of armed robbery and no suspects have been arrested yet.

Meanwhile, police are investigating a case of carjacking which took place on the M1 South next to Riviera off-ramp in Houghton on 3 March.

The complainant maintains that his friend called him on the phone asking for assistance as he had a flat tyre, said Tshivhase. “When he arrived at the said place three men pounced on him and threatened him with a firearm and hijacked his white Renault Cleo.”
