Sex worker raped in Melrose

Melrose – The alleged rapist threatened his victim with a firearm and didn't pay for the service.

Norwood police are investigating a case of sexual assault after a sex worker was allegedly raped at the James and Ethel Gray Park in Melrose.

According to the spokesperson for the Norwood Police Station, Captain Elliot Tshivhase, the incident happened on 7 March.

Tshivhase said a complainant claim that her alleged rapist had sex with her without her consent and she was not even paid.

According to the victim, said Tshivhase, she was standing on her corner spot in Illovo when the suspect approached her wanting to buy sex.

“The suspect, who was driving a silver VW Polo with registration number HF93YFGP, came and accosted her wanting to buy sex,” he said.

“The victim then got into the car and drove away with the suspect. They got to the park and the suspect pointed a firearm at her threatening her to undress before he forced himself to the victim.”

After doing that, the suspect then drove away without paying the sex worker for the service, said Tshivhase.

A case of rape has been reported and Tshivhase confirmed that an investigation is currently underway.
