Jeppe police appeal for help in finding kidnappers

JEPPE – One suspect was wearing an unrecognisable security company's uniform and the other one was dressed in a navy blue work suit.

Jeppe police appeal to the community to assist them with identifying the suspects (pictured) who allegedly kidnapped and robbed a woman of her cell phones and money.

The spokesperson for Jeppe Police Station, Captain Richard Munyayi, said the incident took place on 26 February and they have launched a manhunt.

Munyayi said a 31-year-old victim claims that on the day she was coming from the bank on Siemert Street in Doornfontein she was approached by two unknown suspects.

“The suspects asked her if she knew a place where they are selling cell phones and she told them she didn’t know any place.

“When she was about to cross the street, the two suspects grabbed and put her inside the back of a white bakkie with a canopy that was parked along the street.”

According to Munyayi, the suspects then drove for a few metres and stopped next to another bank in Beit Street.

“They then took her two cell phones, a Nokia and Samsung S7 as well as an amount of R400 in cash. They ordered her to walk away and then they drove off.”
