Twitter reacts to Gigaba’s budget speech
JOBURG – Tweeps looks at the lighter side of Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba's budget speech.
Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba delivered his first budget speech as minister on Wednesday.
He had many people in the country agitated when he announced that Value Added Tax would increase by 1 per cent to 15 per cent, while the price of cigarettes and alcohol will also increase.
As usual, Tweeps took the appaling speech light and made jokes about it.
It was when Gigaba incorrectly quoted a line from rapper Kendrick Lamar’s Alright.
“As urban poet Kendrick Lamar says, ‘We gon’ be right, we gon’ be alright’,” Gigaba said.
He also referred to Lamar as an ‘urban poet’.
