Four men arrested for possession of housebreaking implements and an illegal firearm

PARKTOWN NORTH – Parkview police reacted quickly after they had received a tip-off about a suspicious-looking vehicle in the area.Read to find out what happened.

Four suspects have been arrested for allegedly being in possession of housebreaking implements and an illegal firearm following a tip-off.

On 9 February at around 3.30pm, Parkview police‘s Sergeant Maliyakhe Nzama and Constable Padima Makhudu, together with crime prevention members, made the arrests.

Parkview police received a complaint about a suspicious-looking white Inyathi taxi in Parktown North.

The officers rushed to the neighbourhood and upon arrival, they saw a taxi matching the description along 7th Avenue with four occupants.

The officers stopped the minibus and searched the occupants. One was in possession of a firearm and a pickaxe head was also found inside the taxi. All four suspects were arrested and appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court to answer to the charges.

Captain Tinstswalo Sibeko, the spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station, said the police were currently investigating to determine whether the men may have been involved with burglaries in the area.
