Renowned London-based designer to showcase at The Factory on Grant

NORWOOD – The designer is internationally known for the famous Annie Sloan painter-in- residence design.

The Factory on Grant in Norwood is hosting a ‘sold-out’ demo by London-based and world-famous interior designer, Jonathon Marc Mendes on 22 February.

The event is expected to attract scores of decorators, designers and homemakers to also showcase their work.

Mendes is recognised for his furniture painting prowess using chalk paint and sharing his unique techniques and insights on colour and style.

“Jonathon Marc Mendes has become world-renowned for his ability to adapt his style to the particular piece he’s painting and not simply adhere to one single technique or style,” said Simon Glaister, one of the organisers of the event.

“The essence of this event is quite simple – it is to showcase an incredible artist who has become known as ‘The Furniture Whisperer’.”

Organisers are expecting mostly local interior or decor designers who have an interest in paint techniques and painted furniture to grace the occasion.

The Factory offers the opportunity to a limited number of complimentary stall holders to showcase their wares from 22 to 25 February for free.

However, stall holders will be chosen based on the quality of their offering, according to the organisers.

Glaister said this is the first time an Annie Sloan painter-in-residence artist will be demonstrating his work in South Africa. “As it’s the first of its kind in SA, we feel that the opportunity to see Jonathon Marc Mendes at work first hand and gain first-hand tips and knowledge from him is an incredible opportunity for any artist or paint techniques.”

For those in Johannesburg, who might not make it to The Factory, there is also an opportunity to see him at The Homemakers Expo from 23 to 25 February.
