Four suspects nabbed for house robbery and assault

PARKHURST – A domestic worker was badly beaten in a house robbery on 17 January.

Four suspects have been arrested by the Parkview Police Station for house robbery and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

On 17 January at about 5.45am the police received a complaint about a house robbery in Parkhurst. When they arrived on the scene security officers were present and a woman had been badly assaulted.

Spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station, Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said, “The victim, a domestic worker, alleged that she was busy ironing clothes in the kitchen when she saw an unknown man entering the house and another suspect began assaulting her and forced her to give them information.”

According to the Sibeko, the house was ransacked by the suspects who stole a plasma TV, laptop, jewellery, clothes, shoes and a bag.

The victim was badly injured by the suspects and was taken to hospital for treatment. The suspects fled the scene in a silver Toyota Avanza.

Sector manager Sergeant Maliyakhe Nzama, Constable Padima Makhudu and Detective Constable Dumisani Mndhlovu worked together with crime prevention managers to get information that led to the arrest.

“The registration of the vehicle was traced and the driver of the vehicle was arrested at Alexandra taxi rank wearing the shoes that were stolen during the house robbery.”

A security guard was also arrested whilst on duty and the other two suspects were arrested in Hillbrow.

All four suspects appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court to answer to charges of house robbery and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and were all remanded in custody.

“The acting station commander of Parkview Police Station Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Mohlanga would like to congratulate the members for their hard work and commitment,” concluded Sibeko.
