Welcome to the new year

HOUGHTON – The St John's College community hosted a special mass to welcome the new academic year.

The St John’s College community gathered on their field on 18 January for a special community mass.

The spokesperson for the school, Jacqui Deeks, said that the mass marks the beginning of the academic year. The mass was presided over by the Right Reverend Steve Moreo, who is Bishop of Johannesburg.

She added, “Bishop Steve’s love for the school and his infectious joy is always appreciated by the community. His blessing of the college and St John’s College Academy matrics, as well as the upper sixth form students, was particularly poignant as it called them to live lives of sustained significance in a country thirsty for signs of hope.”
