Johannesburg – The police were on their usual police patrol when the two suspects were arrested.

Police officers were busy with their routine crime prevention duties when they saw a man behaving suspiciously inside a white BMW.

“He [the suspect] was busy chatting on his cellphone. They asked to search him and the police recovered a firearm with live ammunition.

“The suspect failed to produce a licence to carry a firearm. It has a serial number and it shows that it belongs to a 60-year-old male residing in Mondeor.”

He added that the man was expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.

In the other incident, Mbele said a man was arrested at the intersection of Joubert and De Villiers streets on 12 January.
