New year of schooling

HOUGHTON – St John's College welcomes a new group of pupils to their school on 17 January.

St John’s College welcomed a new and returning group of children at their pre-preparatory and preparatory school on 17 January.

The day was filled with excitement with kids meeting their new teachers and parents wishing them good luck for the new year. The pre-preparatory school welcomed 74 new boys to the school with assembly followed by an introduction to their teachers.

Headmistress of the pre-preparatory Jane Lane said, “They had a busy day in the classroom with some enjoying an hour of art while others took part in a computer lesson. The teachers reported that the boys were very sweet, very chatty and very wriggly today, just as little boys should be.”.

She added, “The excitement at St John’s Pre-Prep this morning was palpable, welcoming the boys and their families at the start of the new year. We are all so delighted to have the boys back at school ready for the wonder of learning. Welcome back and have a happy year to all.”

There was increasing excitement among the preparatory school boys who reunited with old friends, all ecstatic to start the new phase of their schooling.

Headmaster of the school Patrick Lees said, “I welcome all the boys back to the prep, especially the new boys coming to St John’s and our new boys who join us from the pre-preparatory School. May your year be a happy and fruitful one and all I encourage you to do is the endeavour to be the best that you can be.”
