Hijacker busted a day after sitting in stolen vehicle in Westdene

JOBURG – A man who was found guilty for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment.

Valentino Wilson (25) was found guilty for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment by Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 21 December.

Spokesperson for Johannesburg Central police, Captain Xoli Mbele said, “On the 22 of April at 11pm, a 26-year old man parked his blue Mazda 323 next to a pub in Westdene to purchase something to quench his thirst.

“Four males approached him and threatened him with firearms and one with a knife. The suspect with a knife stabbed him in the upper body and they took his car.”

According to Mbele,  on 23 April, the victim spotted his car parked outside a residence in Westbury and alerted police.

Police officers arrived on the scene and found Wilson sitting inside the vehicle. The victim told police that he was the man who stabbed him. Wilson was apprehended.

Police are still on the hunt for the other suspects.
