Give a child the gift of forever love

FOURWAYS – In order to make the holiday season more bear-able for children in need, the Fourways Crossing Shopping Centre is collecting soft toys! Find out how you can help here ...

The Fourways Crossing Shopping Centre off William Nicol Drive is being invaded by bears! For a good cause of course.

Together with our sister publication Fourways Review, the centre is running a toy donation drive on site until 17 December, and the public is encouraged to drop off their donation of a new soft toy or teddy bear to find a home with a child in need.

“We decided to get involved in this initiative because we wanted to make a difference in our community,” explained marketing manager, Larissa Pillay.

“As we look forward to the festive season and spending time with our families, it’s important to remember that there are many people who won’t have the same joy this festive season.”

Donations of any new, soft toy are welcome, and you can drop off your contribution inside the giant wire bear which has been set up near the Ackerman’s store in the centre. Fourways Crossing asks that donators please not wrap the bears, but instead leave them as is.

To get the ball rolling, the centre itself has already contributed an amazing 40 plush toys so far, and hopefully there will be many more donated before the official hand over on 18 December.

“People have been donating since the initiative started on 20 November. Every day I take a walk down [to where the donations are dropped] and I see a few more have been put in the bear.”

All donations received will find their way to a child in need.

“We [the centre] just want to give a child something special this Christmas.”

The Fourways Review are media partners for this Teddy Charity Drive, and as such we will keep you updated on the drive and charities who will be receiving new fluffy friends! Watch this space for more information.
