Parkview police arrest 2 men and 1 woman for Craighall robbery

CRAIGHALL PARK – An elderly couple were at home when two men and a woman broke in.

Three people have been arrested following a botched robbery and assault in Craighall Park.

On 29 October an elderly couple were caught by surprise when they found two men and a woman rummaging through their belongings at their home.

Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, the spokesperson for Parkview Police Station said, “The elderly man was in his living room and was feeling cold when he informed his wife that he was going to get something warm from upstairs.”

However, when he got there, he was surprised to see a woman taking clothes from his wardrobe. A male then appeared and began to strangle the elderly man. He managed to scream to his wife for help and his hand was cut by a knife.

“The victim’s wife pressed a panic button and the suspects fled the scene of the crime but bystanders managed to apprehend one of the male suspects,” explained Sibeko.

He was handed over to constables Lufuno Lishivha and Reratiloe Marota from Parkview Police Station.

A docket was opened with charges of house robbery and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The preliminary investigation was conducted on the same night and evidence was gathered by Sergeant Maliyakhe Nzama and Constable Padima Makhudu. The evidence collected led to the remaining two suspects, a man and woman, being arrested in Diepsloot.

All three will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.

The Parkview police would like to thank the residents of Craighall Park and private security for working together with the police in the fight against crime.
