Jeppe police arrested two men on 2 November and charged them with robbing their employer at a liquor outlet on Commissioner Street in Jeppestown.

Police say the victim’s girlfriend went to the outlet to look for him as it was time to close but he was nowhere to be found. Instead, according to Jeppe Police Station spokesperson, Captain Richard Munyai, the girlfriend found her boyfriend’s car parked outside.

“The girlfriend told us that the lights of the shop were off and she looked through the window and saw him lying on the couch inside,” reported Munyai.

“She called him and he opened for her and alleged that three of his employees assaulted him and took some items from the bar and fled the scene. The suspects are believed to have taken a deep fryer, an amplifier, a DStv decoder, whiskey and cigarettes after assaulting him. They then fled the scene.”

A case of assault and business robbery was opened at the Jeppe Police Station.

Two suspects aged between 25 and 27 were later arrested while the third one is still on the run, according to the police spokesperson.

Munyai said the two were charged with assault and business robbery and detained at Jeppe Police Station. “They will appear in court soon, while police investigations continue.”
