The Parkview Police Station, Parkview Community Policing Forum and the Parktown North Residents Association will be hosting a safety awareness day on 21 October.

Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, the spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station said, “The event is about building and strengthening the partnership among law-enforcement organisations and the community.

“The event is about showcasing the resources available within the organisation and to improve the working relationship with the community.”

The event will take place on the corner of 7th and 3rd avenues in Parktown North between 10am and 3pm. The police’s Mounted Unit, K9 Unit and forensics team will be present to inform both the young and old about their role within the community. The Johannesburg Metro Police’s Community Outreach Unit will also be present to engage with community members.

Sibeko added that the Pink Ladies would also be present to tell the community more about their work.

Lee-Ann Louverdis, the chairperson of the residents’ association said that they hope the event will help create a lot more contact between the community and the police. She added that there would be a lot of different activities available for children, as well as food.

Louverdis said the gathering would also allow the community to ask the police questions about any troubles they may have.
