Craighall is the ideal location for your next home

Craighall is one of the tranquil suburbs that make up the northern suburbs of Johannesburg.

Craighall is one of the tranquil suburbs that make up the northern suburbs of Johannesburg. Within minutes from Sandton, Hyde Park and Rosebank, its location is ideal for home-owners.

Even though Craigahll is situated right between Jan Smuts and Beyers Naude, two of the biggest roads in the north, when driving through the suburb, there is not much that reminds you of the ever so noisy and crowded city. The properties here are beautifully cultivated and have some of the most scenic gardens. The place is covered by many lush green trees.

Not too far from here stands Hyde Park Corner shopping mall for you to enjoy some of the best high-end fashion stores and boutiques catered to suit the standard of the residents. Hyde Park also offers some fine spots for Sunday brunch with friends and family. Craighall is not too far from the busy Sandton CBD and the flashy Sandton malls.

Craighall is also not too far from Illovo and Inanda, places with some of Johannesburg’s most sought-after private schools.

Rupert Finnemore, Pam Golding Properties Gauteng regional head, said while the region is one of Johannesburg’s older, more established residential areas. It is also fast becoming the location of choice for young up-and-coming professionals and families. This, he said, is in large part due to its highly central location.

These areas, he said, “provide a convenient base for professionals who are increasingly cognisant of the time and cost involved in long-haul commuting, as well as families who are looking for a discerning lifestyle with the convenience of easy access to top schools, as well as shopping and entertainment amenities.”

Both the Sandton Sports Club and the River Club are in close proximity to Craighall for those who want to enjoy a few rounds of golf.

The River Club Golf Course is regarded to be one of the most prestigious and coveted courses in the country. However, the club is not open to the public unless you become a member or are a guest of a member. The exclusivity of this establishment is what makes it appealing for members.

For more family oriented entertainment, there is the Craighall River Market that is open every second Saturday. This market sells crafts, fresh produce, and offers friendly entertainment for children and an exquisite coffee shop for adults.

Lynn Baker, Pam Golding area specialist for some of the suburbs in the north of Johannesburg believes that the continued popularity of these thriving suburbs can, to a large degree, be attributed to the fact that they together offer something for everyone.

“A big draw card when it comes to buying in this area is that it offers a range of possible property options to suit every pocket and taste, from apartments and townhouses to large luxury freehold properties. There are also a number of impressive estates.”

There is a sense of community that exists across many of the suburbs in this area. Baker said these communities “are all well run and maintained by local authorities and have strong home owners associations.”

Craighall’s close proximity to key northern suburbs and establishments makes it very convenient for residents. It is also close to the M1, making it easy for residents to avoid the Joburg traffic. Craighall is a very ideal place for home-owners or those looking to invest in property in the area.
