Rosebank Police Station is celebrating an eight-year sentencing of a repeat offender.

The 40-year-old man was arrested in April when a domestic worker alerted a homeowner to a break-in in Parkwood. ADT was called to the scene and police were alerted after which the man was detained.

Spokesperson for Rosebank Police Station, Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe commended Detective Warrant Officer Butini Nkosi for his work on the case which helped secure the conviction.

“We managed to get a conviction within five months of the actual crime. It normally takes years to get a conviction in cases such as housebreaking. However, his swift response in handling the docket as well as the response of the people on the day helped,” said Mdletshe.

“He investigated the matter to ensure there were no loopholes and he managed to get a conviction.”

Mdletshe added that police are committed to ensuring that cases are followed through in order to get a conviction.
