42 suspects arrested by Yeoville police for various crimes

Yeoville – Police urges the public to report crime in their areas.

 

A total of 42 suspects were arrested by Yeoville police for committing various offences.

According to Captain Sifiso Mabizela, the spokesperson for Yeoville Police Station, the suspects were arrested between 8 and 15 September for crimes ranging from assault to theft.

The arrests were as follows:

  • 1 for theft
  • 1 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • 1 for dealing in drugs
  • 1 for unlawful possession of a firearm
  • 1 for contempt of court
  • 1 for selling liquor without a licence
  • 1 for malicious damage to property and intimidation
  • 2 for common assault
  • 2 for possession of suspected stolen property
  • 2 for drinking in public
  • 3 for theft under false pretenses
  • 3 for attempted business robbery
  • 3 for common robbery
  • 3 for shoplifting
  • 8 for possession of drugs
  • 9 for driving under the influence of liquor or drugs.

“All the suspects appeared in court and others paid bail while others still remain in police custody for further investigations,” said Mabizela.
