The ninth annual MOST Awards took place on 14 September at the Wanderers Club in Illovo to celebrate the performance of media owners and media agencies.
The awards aim to encourage competitiveness among role players in the industry to consistently improve their performance.
The night celebrated winners from various industries, and Caxton Local Media’s Terry Moolman and Noel Coburn walked away with the award for Media Owner Legends. The two, who bought into the company 37 years ago, were celebrated for their success within the media industry.
Marc du Plessis, the CEO of Spark Media Digital told the Rosebank Killarney Gazette that a group of people who have been prominent in the media industry decided that Moolman and Coburn were deserving recipients of the award.
Spark Media Digital won the Lamb Award, which celebrates their great service delivery and knowledge of the industry.
Du Plessis added that Spark has a very strong focus on Local Newspapers and has in the past few years developed a compelling digital media offer as well. The Lamb Award celebrates their achievements so far.
The Shepherd Award was awarded to Gordon Muller, who has selflessly contributed his time, knowledge and expertise to improving the industry. Muller has been highly respected for his contributions to numerous industry bodies.
“The Shepherd Award is awarded to someone who really gives back and does a lot of volunteer work within the industry,” said Du Plessis.
“It was a very festive evening, Jason Goliath was the MC and he was quite funny. The Most Awards have grown to be well-supported by those in the media industry,” concluded Du Plessis.
Other winners on the night included Bryan Gibson, who won the Media Agency Legend Award; Darren McKinnon, who won the Media Owner Rising Award; and Kelvin Storie, who won the Media Agency Rising Star Award. Jonathan Shapiro, otherwise known as Zapiro, was awarded the Bell Award.
