UPDATE: Wall collapses on two taxis and a car in Orange Grove, 16 injured

ORANGE GROVE – Traffic on Louis Botha Avenue near 2nd Street is affected.

Metro police spokesperson, Wayne Minnaar has confirmed that 16 people have been injured following the structure collapse. He explained that the structure fell on two taxis and a private vehicle.

Patients have been taken to Busa Med Clinic and Charlette Maxeke Hospital.

Joseph Ngubane, who witnessed the accident, explained that around 7am while parked outside his tavern on Louis Botha Avenue he saw one taxi speeding then bumping into another,  ” One taxi bumped into another taxi. The taxi which got bumped lost control and then hit 4 pillars and a sign which resulted in the collapse of the structure. I don’t know how I survived, ” said Ngubane.

Louise Botha Avenue is still heavily backed up with traffic.

It appears that a structure has collapsed on Louis Botha Avenue in Orange Grove.

According to a tweet by Vision Tactical, a wall has collapsed. In the photos posted, it appears a signboard had fallen onto a vehicle.

EWN on Twitter reposted the same photos and said it was an accident on Louis Botha at 2nd Street.

Traffic appears to be affected in the area.

Metro police spokesperson, Wayne Minnaar, said that no injuries have been reported as of yet.
