A total of 17 suspects were arrested between 14 and 21 August by Yeoville police.
Captain Sifiso Mabizela, spokesperson for the police, said the arrests were as follows:
- 1 for armed robbery
- 1 for unlawful possession of a firearm
- 1 for driving under the influence of liquor or drugs
- 1 for shoplifting
- 1 for theft out of a motor vehicle
- 1 for dealing in drugs
- 2 for fraud
- 4 for drug possession
- 5 for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
“Some of the suspects appeared before the court while others paid bail. Others still remain in police custody. Investigations continue with those still in custody,” said Mabizela.
