Shelter for women and children receives huge support

NORWOOD – "We are so grateful that we have these opportunities to give back."

Adventure Boot Camp for Women Norwood Branch raised more than R90 000 for Frida Hartley Shelter, which provides shelter for destitute women and children.

“The money was raised as part of the annual Mandela Day initiative,” said Michelle Rozowsky, franchise owner and trainer of Adventure Boot Camp Norwood.

Rozowsky said campers had to go out and find sponsors to back them to perform a gruelling challenge that they had to complete in 40 minutes at camp on challenge day which took place on 24 July.

“They had three weeks during camp to prepare and train for this challenge and subsequently raised the amount of R90 150 through sponsorships and donations.”

Rozowsky runs three boot camp classes a day and there are on average 15 to 20 ladies participating in each of the three classes.

“We are a boot camp for women and the shelter is not too far from my franchise area so it was quite a fitting choice since it is for women and children.

“I am truly blessed to be in a position to provide a platform to empower ladies to achieve such greatness.”

She said she simply set the challenge, guided the campers to be fit and strong enough to perform the challenge on the day. “However, they are the ones that go out with passion and purpose to make this happen. We could never achieve this individually but as a team.

“I am so grateful to have such a group of amazing women that inspire me on a daily basis. A massive thank you to all the sponsors and those that made donations to make this happen.”

A handover of the donations was done on 28 July at the shelter.
