Liefde by die Dam Concert encourages fans and artists to get involved in their communities

JOBURG – 'I think if we keep creating a culture of giving and caring then we as the public could make South Africa a better place for everyone real soon' – Bouwer Bosch. actor and musician.

Liefde by die Dam, named after Valiant Swart’s famous hit song of the same name, strives to serve as a platform to showcase the best local talent. The programme features music for young and old and in the spirit of good concert vibes, the concert will also be giving back some love.

The Liefde by die Dam concert is a unique event and is supported by many South Africans who not only enjoy music, but also those who love giving back to the less-fortunate.

Concert goers are encouraged to bring blankets and some warm stuff that they will be happy to leave behind after the concert so it can be collected for the less-fortunate.

Actor and musician Bouwer Bosch who heads up the Liefde Wen Altyd campaign said, “Liefde By Die Dam is just another great example of how music unites people from all different walks of life. The fact that people come and listen, but they also come to give to the less-fortunate is beautiful and it shows that people always want to get involved in helping others in need.”

Bosch encourages everyone to practise the culture of giving to those with less.

“I think if we keep creating a culture of giving and caring then we as the public could make South Africa a better place for everyone real soon.”

Event and festival marketing director, Charlotte Kanter said the idea of getting concertgoers to leave their picnic blankets behind last year came from the fact that last year the show was held on a very cold day and the team wanted to help somehow.

“We partnered with Liefde Wen and asked our attendees to leave their picnic blankets behind to be donated to the less-fortunate. We had an overwhelming response and collected over 500 blankets. This year we wanted to do more and we thought that the perfect give-back would be rewarding our fans for doing selfless acts.”

Kanter is encouraging fans to get involved by going out and doing charitable deeds in their various communities.

“This way we could begin a movement of activists doing varied charitable acts in the lead-up to the event. We will be giving away some great prizes and all we ask is that the public does a good deed, posts it to their socials, uses our hashtags #LiefdeWen #LiefdeByDieDam and they win!”

The Liefde by die Dam concert is set to take place on 6 August at the Emmarentia Dam. This year, the concert boasts an impressive line-up of artists for both a young and older audience. The likes of Die Heuwels Fantasties, Francois van Coke, beloved Afrikaans songstress, Laurika Rauch, Tresor, and hip-hop heavyweight, JR and many more will be there.
